Cover Story

VIA Magazine cover

VIA Magazine March/April 2010 cover.

A couple of magazines feature my photography on the cover this month. VIA, the magazine of the AAA auto club, assigned me to shoot a story on the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and nearby Florence, Oregon. For the cover, they chose a shot of a couple of guys jumping off a dune face along the John Dellenbach Trail in the Umpqua Dunes Area. Just so happens that the two guys are my son Hunter and his friend Tom Clawson. : )

Hobby Farm Home Magazine

Hobby Farm Home Magazine, March 2010 cover.

Hobby Farm Home liked a photo I made at the Ali’i Kula Lavendar Farm in upcountry Maui and used that for their March cover. The bucket of lavendar for sale seemed like a natural for the Lens Baby treatment, and the resulting out of focus background area gave the magazine lots of clean space for copy and logo.

    Congratulations on two great covers.

Enjoy the exuberance of youth as models whenever you can. The best model I ever had was our daughter Karen. With a background as a dancer, she “made” a Vermont shoot years ago. Took direction beautifully. Now, the worst model of career is husband who hates doing it and takes direction in a sulk.

Thanks, Sally and Kevin. I’m happy to add another cover this month for the 2010 edition of the Mile-by-Mile Oregon Coast guide.
